About Maarten Denoo
My PhD research focuses on the intersection of gaming and gambling. I have conducted formal analyses of gambling-like game features, studied the regulatory implications of loot boxes, explored how adolescents circumvent gambling bans, and investigated game developers' attitudes towards monetization and self-regulation through a variety of methods: content and thematic analysis, semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and surveys.My interests extend beyond gaming to encompass the convergence of digital technologies, audiences and industries; the platformization of media landscapes; and health, behavior change and policy in increasingly technological societies.
