Background
About MacHell Collier
With a Master of Science degree in nutrition research, I have extensive experience in research and analysis, medical and clinical health writing, project management, creative problem solving and strategy implementation, critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership. I'm adept at synthesizing vast amounts of data and evidence to create focused and succinct products such as clinical articles, narrative reviews, and other scientific and medical copy. I'm systematic, organized, and meticulous in all work. Among my current responsibilities as a Content Specialist with the Institute for Functional Medicine, I write clinical articles on a variety of health, chronic disease, lifestyle, and nutrition topics for healthcare practitioner and patient audiences. These articles follow evidence standards that include a review of the current scientific literature and the assessment and synthesis of relevant research findings and discussions. In addition to conducting literature reviews for clinical articles, I’ve continued to develop my research and analysis skills within my employment setting by supporting a range of evidence and research projects. To further my expertise, I’ve also continued my research training by completing Masters level courses in Epidemiology at Bastyr University (2021). As an illustration of my leadership and project management skills, in 2022, I helped to establish the first official employee resource group (ERG) at my place of employment. As part of an initial sub-committee in 2021, I helped write a mission statement and create an ERG charter. I led discussions with the larger group to edit and finalize the ERG charter, which included vision pillars, leadership role responsibilities, and election protocols. After I was elected to the process facilitator position in early 2022, I led weekly 50-minute ERG meetings; organized and created agendas; organized and documented meeting minutes; tracked and followed-up on action items; created and presented quarterly progress tracking reports; tracked and managed the ERG budget; led ERG-specific goals discussions; presented ERG-related announcements and longer presentations to the entire work staff. I also organized agendas and meeting minutes, tracked action items, and led discussions for additional ERG-related meetings, including a monthly Steering Committee meeting and a monthly Executive Sponsor meeting with the CEO. As the initial process facilitator, I worked with others in leadership roles and the ERG group members to establish a solid foundation for this inaugural employee resource group.
