About Macu Pilime

I am an ambitious, gifted, kind, versatile woman. Having spent my entire working life (21years) in the banking arena, I have been exposed to varied environments and, in the process, observed and learnt a few things in the business of banking. My career journey has been both fulfilling and rewarding. I started at lower rungs of the corporate ladder in 2002 as a Bulk teller at the Standard Bank Durban Cash Centre, and have passionately worked my way up. I have learned that there is no substitute for passion and hard work in the work context. Without these indispensable ingredients, frustration and failure is inevitable and any victories are guaranteed to be temporary and unsustainable. In 2009, my career took a pleasant turn when I was afforded the opportunity to be a Learning and Development Consultant in Personal and Business Banking, specializing in what was a rather rare skill then; Foreign Exchange. The experience was amazing as I travelled to different provinces, interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and not just conducting a lesson but also impacting lives and in instances coaching and mentoring fellow colleagues. In 2010 an even more drastic change took place when I was “handpicked” to be a Subject Matter Expert within the Corporate and Investment Banking, Business Solutions. Being a more technical and analytic in nature, this role challenged me in every aspect and took me out of my comfort zone where my soft skills were of lesser value.I am grateful to have had this learning experience which has added another dimension to my skills set and I continue to strive for personal excellence, giving my very best so as to deliver on the expectations of the role.I believe that I possess the necessary skills and equally important, the passion needed to execute my mandate successfully, professionally and with excellence.
