About Maitri Patel

Maitri R. Patel, MD Dr. Patel graduated from the Program in Liberal Medical Education at Brown University in Providence RI where she studied English Literature and then went on to receive her medical doctorate. She did her internship and residency in general psychiatry at the Harvard Longwood Program, training at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts Mental Health Center. From there she specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry at Children’s Hospital Boston. She is board certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She started Progressive Therapeutics LLC May 1, 2006 with two other colleagues, and has built a thriving outpatient psychiatry practice in Framingham MA. Learning how to listen to the story within a story has been an integral part of my medical life, knowing that when someone sees a psychiatrist, like starting a memoir, there is so much to say and confusion over where to begin. To distill a life into words is a daunting and healing process. I am privileged with the sometimes painful stories of others and am grateful for the training on how to hear them so as to be effective in helping them make better lives for themselves and those around them.
