About Maks Udov

Urban Tree Rescuer | Inventor of HERBAFERTIL® | Pioneer of Preventive Arboriculture I am the inventor of HERBAFERTIL®, a patented Croatian, EU, and USA product developed to revitalize and protect urban trees suffering from stress caused by climate change, soil compaction, construction damage, and neglect. I’ve dedicated my career to preserving the vitality of mature trees—because sustainability doesn’t start with planting more, but with saving what already grows. Founder and Owner: Herbafertil Ltd.@ Herbafarm-magnolija Ltd, Zagreb, Croatia Inventor: HERBAFERTIL®, owner of 4 green innovation patents Supervisory Board Member: Croatian Arboricultural Society (HUA) Certified Evaluator: Tree health & statics (Nürnberger Schule, EU) Brand Owner: Herbafertil® & Herbadesign® Member: Global Ambassadors of Sustainability (GAoS) I created the DRILL 2 FILL® method, a ground-breaking Croatian concept in arboriculture that restores the underground life support systems of urban trees. This method includes Deep Nutrient and Aeration Watering Chambers—vertical shafts drilled directly into the Reinforced Root Plate—which deliver HERBAFERTIL deep into the root zone, without disturbing structural stability. It enables deep underground irrigation, ecological watering, and long-term soil restoration. HERBAFERTIL® is not a fertilizer—it is a powerful soil bio stimulant that: Restores microbial life in anaerobic soils Improves oxygen and water flow in compacted zones Stimulates new root growth from within the reinforced plate Increases resilience to disease, drought, and environmental stress Supports sustainable planting and long-term urban greening strategies Cities across Europe are now using this system to prolong the life of mature trees, reduce tree removals, and cut irrigation costs by up to 80%. I work in close collaboration with the Faculty of Forestry (University of Zagreb), Croatian Forestry Institute, and HUA to promote preventive arboriculture as a cost-effective, climate-adaptive solution for urban tree care. My vision: a world where urban trees are not removed out of neglect, but restored out of respect. Let’s save our trees—deep down, where it matters most.
