About Mallory Kimpler

Hello, I’m Mallory Kimpler. I graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and a certificate in Disability Studies. My academic journey provided me with a strong foundation in therapeutic practices and disability advocacy, which I have consistently applied in professional settings. After graduation, I completed a comprehensive Recreational Therapy internship at Highland Park Hospital, where I gained hands-on experience in therapeutic interventions and patient care. This experience solidified my commitment to enhancing quality of life through recreational therapy. I then joined Deerfield High School in Township District 113 as an Intensive Special Education Paraprofessional. Over the course of three school years, I worked closely with students with diverse needs and collaborated with educational staff to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role significantly deepened my skills in special education and student support. In parallel with my work at Deerfield, I pursued further qualifications at Blackburn College, where I recently completed my program. I earned my Professional Educator License (PEL) along with a Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement, expanding my capacity to support students with a wide range of learning needs. I am excited to begin the next chapter of my career as a 6th Grade Resource Teacher at Frederick School. I am passionate about advancing my expertise in special education and therapeutic practices, and I remain dedicated to making a positive, lasting impact in the lives of students and individuals with disabilities.
