As a qualified hypnotherapist and counselor I help people to overcome their addictions or unwanted habits. I work with individuals and their employers, counseling one-to-one from my Amsterdam practice. Focus areas are- problematic use of alcohol, drugs and/or other substances- behavioral addictions, for example to eating, working, shopping, gambling or being online- obsessions, for example with a person, body image, attention, status or perfection- compulsions, such as nail biting, hoarding or self mutilation- additional complaints, such as stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, boundary issues and trauma. My approach is positive, practical, focused and always tailored to one's specific needs. I combine behavioral treatment methods with psychosocial therapy that addresses the unconscious – such as hypnotherapy, NLP and EMDR. The great benefit of this combination of methods is that you will both work very solution-oriented to achieve your goals, and get insight into underlying, often unconscious, causes and needs. I have a diploma in psychosocial therapy and hypnotherapy from Hypnos Academy and I specialized in counseling people with substance or behavioral dependence. I am a member of the Dutch Association of Hypnotherapists (NBVH) and I work according to their professional code of ethics and conduct. Before I started my own practice, I worked as a relationship manager and communications manager in the advertising industry and in charities and cultural organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and World Press Photo.
