Background

About Marc Heaney

I'm an experienced educator with a deep-rooted belief that great teaching is about more than results (although they are extremely important)- it's about helping students grow into thoughtful, resilient, and capable people. After stepping away from a senior leadership position that no longer aligned with my values, I made the deliberate choice to return to the classroom. This decision reconnected me with the core of why I entered education: to make learning meaningful, inclusive, and lasting. My strengths lie in curriculum development, assessment strategy, and pedagogy - areas where I thrive by combining practical experience with fresh perspective. I’ve led careers education at a strategic level (Level 7 qualified), supported national initiatives through Computing at School, and consistently sought innovative ways to connect learning with life. I bring resilience, flexibility, and breadth of experience to every team I join. Whether you’re a school leader looking for collaboration on teaching and learning, or an organisation seeking someone who bridges values with outcomes - I’d love to connect. Let’s talk about how we can shape an education that prepares young people not just for exams, but for the world beyond them.
