About Maria Kassis

I’m a fifth-year Biomedical Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Ottawa. My passion for engineering stems from my desire to combine creativity with a drive to solve real-world problems. Having spent seven years in a war-torn country, I witnessed firsthand how essential medical advancements are to improving lives. This experience inspired me to pursue a career in the biomedical industry, where I hope to design prosthetics and artificial organs to enhance people’s quality of life. Over the past 7 years, while working to finance my studies, I have cultivated strong leadership, creativity, and conflict-resolution skills. These experiences have taught me the importance of resilience, collaboration, and the ability to thrive under pressure. Looking ahead, I am eager to pursue a career in Clinical Engineering, where I can merge my technical expertise with my passion for healthcare innovation to create solutions that truly impact lives.
