About Mariam Ezzelarab

Among the numerous and various science careers, I’m choosing the one through which I could harness the conclusions/results that scientists have produced thus far and apply it in a novel, practical, and profitable way. During this expedition, I want to employ my skills and passion for teaching to educate youngsters and college students about Biotechnology and its unlimited potentials. As an ex-iGEMer (participated in the international Genetically Engineered competition “iGEM”), I experienced all these jobs on a smaller scale. I gained real-life experience in doing the research in (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Synthetic biology, and Cell-free expression), applying it in the lab, and educating people about it. Moreover, I have taught science to primary and secondary school students during my volunteering activities in African refugees’ schools in Egypt and participated in giving extracellular workshops in Finland. Besides, I was given the chance to be a teaching assistant in the faculty of science for Biotechnology students at Cairo University. I have also learned that what we accomplish with a one-sided perspective could be multiplied in a multidisciplinary environment. Because of that, I’m trying to go beyond biology and life sciences by learning new skills and approaches from other disciplines.
