About Marissa Chiarelli

With over six years of experience in labour relations, I am a passionate and skilled professional who strives to foster positive and collaborative relationships between management and employees. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, which demonstrate my commitment to continuous learning and excellence in my field. As the Team Lead of Labour Relations Operations at the Department of National Defence (DND), I lead a team of four advisors who provide strategic and operational advice to clients across the organization on various labour relations issues and initiatives. In my current role, I have successfully handled complex and sensitive misconduct cases, including termination cases, by providing sound recommendations, building strong cases, and liaising with union representatives. I have also contributed to strike management and reporting, as well as preparing briefings for executive management on labour relations matters. Additionally, I have developed and maintained an expertise on the interpretation and application of collective agreements, policies, procedures, and jurisprudence, and have assisted clients in resolving grievances and complaints in a timely and effective manner. Through my communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, I have established trust and rapport with my clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, and have enabled a respectful and productive work environment.
