About Mark Abrenica

Mark is a Registered Environmental Planner and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report Preparer with extensive experience in environmental and social consulting in the Philippines. He is well-versed in the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System (PEISS) and international environmental and social safeguards such as those from ADB, World Bank, IFC, and AIIB. Mark has prepared technical reports and proposals for a multitude of works such as EIAs, ESIAs, E&S Due Diligence, E&S Constraint Mapping, Land Acquisition and Resettlement Action Planning, Socioeconomic Profiling, E&S Compliance Monitoring, among others, across various industries, including power, energy, transport, oil and gas, water, mining, land development, infrastructure, and agriculture. He is also adept at facilitating stakeholder engagements such as focus group discussions (FGDs), public consultations, and project presentations. Mark earned his degree in Human Ecology with a specialization in Human Settlements Planning (Cum Laude) from the University of the Philippines, Los Baños, in 2016. As part of his undergraduate requirements, he spearheaded the development of the Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN) Resource Management Plan for the Municipality of Coron, Province of Palawan, through an engagement with the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD). Mark has also held positions in both international and local environmental and engineering consulting firms, including roles such as Environmental Scientist at AECOM and Environmental Specialist and Project Manager at LTI. He is currently a Senior E&S Specialist and a Project Manager in GHD’s Environment Business Group, specifically within the EIA team. His roles include both technical and business development responsibilities. Additionally, he is pursuing a graduate degree in Urban and Regional Planning with focus on Environmental Planning.
