About Mark Austin

Mark is a global health and development expert with over 25 years of experience of creating and improving supportive systems for collaborative programming and building cross-organization understanding. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, program design and management, policy development, training, and legislative analysis. Of particular interest are health and development issues in the Middle East and Asia regions, including civilian-military coordination and collaborative planning, and the nexus between short-term humanitarian assistance and long-term development. He brings a comprehensive perspective of quantitative and qualitative understanding to global health issues with a goal of ensuring that interventions are technically sound, culturally relevant, and effectively integrated within the local context. Mr. Austin holds a Masters of Science in Population and International Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, speaks Arabic and German, and has lived and worked extensively in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa regions.
