About Mark Baker

The past 13 years has seen me employed by UMS working my way through varying departments gaining skills and experience culminating in becoming directly responsible for one of our largest contracts. This role has seen me leading a team of 25-30 staff primarily working for a Victorian rail network. These works are being undertaken during normal business hours, night shift and weekends requiring a contact single point of contact to all staff to deal with issues that naturally arise. Over the period of leading these works our KPI results have improved from %73 to %100 where it has been held for several years through many trials and tribulations including a large increase in quantity of works being requested and subsequently delivered meeting or exceeding all targets. During this period we have also obtained many large project works along with regular quoted works which I have coordinated and completed successfully. Thanks to working my way through the business and into this role I have acquired many skills covering most aspects of a facilities maintenance company including the maintenance and use of the equipment required for undertaking these works. My primary experience has been related to removing graffiti through the use of painting, chemicals and high pressure water. In my current role I have obtained performance management and contract management related experience. Due to the contracts work environment I have developed many rail related skills and qualifications such as 3.1 TFPC and high risk licence for heights work. This environment has necessitated thorough and intimate knowledge of rail safety along with a high level of general workplace safety. My primary tasks include rostering of staff and works on a 24/7/365 basis, Android and Windows based Works Management System operation, training and improvement, works auditing and quality management, client reporting, liaising with the clients representatives including monthly client meetings, ensuring contracts meet both KPI and budgetary constraints, equipment and materials purchasing along with associated innovation, liaising with subcontractors and networking with others in the industry to develop further business opportunities.
