About Mark Hagen

B.S. in marketing and international business with experience in direct marketing, B2C marketing, sales and lead generation, team building, leadership, teaching, construction, and much more. I attended a local community college for my general education degree. That's where I developed a great interest in marketing. I attended Metropolitan State University of Minnesota where I completed my marketing degree and went on to double in international business. I was taught to do drywall at a young age and exceled at it. Eventually I joined the local union. Entrepreneurial ways I made a living during school was as an independent contractor and owner and operator of a small vending machine business. My first job out of college was an entry level direct marketing job with an affiliate of The Home Depot, which isn't in business anymore and was actually a "pyramid scheme" type of company. Nonetheless, I worked there for a year and actually learned a lot. I learned how to be a team leader, ask for sales, accept lots of no's, and how to build rapport. I was one of the most successful lead generators in our company. After this, I got an awesome job selling a product I absolutely loved at Harley Davidson of Elk River, Minnesota. I got to walk customers through the whole process of getting their new bike and it was very rewarding and extremely fulfilling to close a sale. Plus, I got to drive all the cool motorcycles! Then I decided to try my hand at teaching English in Thailand. This is actually where I discovered my passion for diving. I went back to Minnesota and worked construction for a year to pay for my training in Honduras where I studied and worked for a year. I decided to send out some resumes for a chance to keep scratching my itch for traveling and new experiences. This brings us to our my life today as a PADI scuba instructor on Maui for the last two years. I've thrived at Lahaina Divers and worked my way quickly up the ladder and now one of their most trusted, reliable and valued employees and have great Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews to attest. I've been extremely lucky and fortunate in my life, but it never came easy. I've worked hard for everything I have and have always achieved my goals and followed my dreams. I let nothing stand in my way and am not afraid of failure. If I am afraid of something, all the more reason for me to overcome it.
