About Mark Kirkby

I have had a lot of titles over the years, however one I never had, but think fits the best, is Technologist. Call me a nerd, but I love everything about how technology works with, in, and around our lives. More important I think, is that I get to share my out of the box views with people to help them understand technology just that much better. Not to be "afraid" of it. My second but maybe largest love at the moment is education. While working on my masters in education, I discovered that I REALLY like to learn. Further, I truly believe that education is the key to the problems of our society and planet. I try to make everything I do a learning opportunity, for myself and others as well. Both these loves, Technology and Education, come together in my current world. The "Big Data" movement has given me a chance to apply both at the same time. Gathering information out of computer systems is "the thrill of the hunt". It is exciting and brings me to work every morning. Then turning this data into information is icing on the cake, creating a visual environment for others. I love what I do and sharing it with others.
