Background
About Mark Olson
I am a clerical worker, but for the past three years I have dedicated much of my free time to software development. I am an active contributor to the Notepad++ community. Currently I would be most interested in a non-technical clerical role with an small organization open to someone who could, during his down time, provide insight on how to make better use of technology to streamline processes. Since mid-2023, I have worked in part-time roles provided by Richmond Area Multi-Services (RAMS). I have enjoyed doing hands-on work in these roles, and it can provide a welcome respite from programming work. I have also done part-time data analysis work for Stop Crime SF, a San Francisco nonprofit seeking to inform voters about the track records of San Francisco Superior Court judges running for re-election. In this role, I used Google Sheets and Google Drive to help organize large amounts of data collected by other members of the organization. As an open source developer, I have developed the JsonTools plugin in C#, a versatile Notepad++ plugin for working with JSON described below in my Projects section. I have made pull requests that have been merged into Notepad++ and Python's numpy library. See my GitHub for more information: https://github.com/molsonkiko. In a past life, I earned a master’s degree in chemistry. After working in chemistry, I realized it was not my calling. I rediscovered my love for coding and I have dedicated myself to it for years. I have become very proficient with Python and C# in this time, but I have struggled to find a coding job. I contribute to open source because I am most enthusiastic about projects where I see usefulness in the community.
