About Markus Ford

High-energy problem solver who values the opportunity to do meaningful work, especially when a new project comes up and nobody is quite sure how to get it done. A quick learner who enjoys the challenge of getting square pegs to fit in round holes. For more information, see my classroom website: In my unique background, I have- Engaged in remote, hybrid and asynchronous learning with students - Helped start a local digital fabrication "fab lab" and maker space​. twice- Designed and created objects using a laser cutter, CNC machine, 3D printer, and vinyl cutter- Done a bunch of soldering - both through-board and surface mount - Managed a five person technology support department serving 500+ users - Written about a lot of stuff - Built and operated APRS digital ham radio stations (Callsign: K1FIG)- Designed innovative Project Based Learning units - Managed a dorm of international students (some couldn't speak English)- Worked with learners of all ages and abilities - Toured "behind the scenes"​ at NASA facilities as part of a grant-funded project - Traveled over air miles to 38 states training Fortune 500 clients in database reporting - Completed 80 college classes - Worked with challenging children manifesting behavioral issues - Done some coding here and there in C++, ASP, Java, Javascript, HTML, etc- Participated in high altitude balloon launches from time to time - Had some interesting experiences growing up, including college summers crewing on tall ships- Spent the past 30 years raising 3 kids with my amazing wife - Met some famous people - Learned that life is what you make of it.
