About Marta Materska-Samek

Researcher and manager of innovative projects in the field of culture and creative sectors and industries (CCSI), scientific, economic and business expert for the Polish National Centre for Research and Development, National Agency for Erasmus + Programme, Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Author of reports and evaluations. As an academic and researcher with a Ph.D. at Jagiellonian University, I boast a noteworthy career in international project leadership, with specialized expertise in the film and creative industries. Between 2006 and 2014, I managed the Cinema Development Foundation, overseeing digitalization projects such as the Małopolska Network of Digital Cinemas. Since earning my Ph.D. in Management Sciences from Jagiellonian University in 2016, I have been affiliated with the Department of Management, Media Economics, and Advertising. I co-authored and managed the “ErasmusXR: Immersive Experience and Technologies – From Creative Practice to Educational Theory” project (2020-2023), which was recognized as 'good practice' by the National Agency of the Erasmus+ program. Since 2020, I have been contributing to the development of the concept for the new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community dedicated to creative sectors within Una Europa. During the startup phase of EIT Culture & Creativity (2022-2023), I served as the Interim Education Director. I actively participate in international research teams for Horizon Europe projects, including PACESETTERS: Powering Artistic and Cultural Entrepreneurship to Drive The Climate Transition, and IMPULSE: IMmersive digitization: uPcycling cULtural heritage towards new reviving strategies. I hold a scholarship from the French Government and am a visiting researcher in the CRESCINE project, focusing on boosting the international competitiveness of the film industry in small European markets. As the chairwoman of the Working Group for National Smart Specialization 12 Creative Industries at the Ministry of Development and Technology, I contribute to shaping policies in the creative sector.
