About Mary Traylor

I am a program strategist, educator, and curriculum designer dedicated to advancing equity through community-centered program design and leadership development. With over 18 years of experience in schools, nonprofits, and environmental education spaces, my work focuses on building liberatory learning environments that cultivate belonging, resilience, and collective transformation. As Director of Programs at Justice Outside, I lead the design and implementation of grassroots leadership initiatives that support BIPOC leaders and allies across the outdoor, environmental, and environmental justice sectors. I oversee fellowships, alumni networks, and collaborative programs rooted in relationship, shared commitment, and long-term community impact. My work is grounded in equity, healing, and liberation; not as abstract ideas, but as daily practices. I draw from frameworks of popular education, transformative justice, and critical reflection to co-create learning experiences that honor lived experience, disrupt dominant narratives, and support deep learning and collective growth. In addition to my full-time work, I offer consulting for mission-driven organizations seeking to design community-centered programs, equity-focused curriculum, and strategies that deepen their impact while aligning with their values.
