About Masia Lim

I am the person that is constantly asked "Can I pick your brain for a minute?" or "Do you have a different approach for this idea I have?". After years of sharing, connecting and building community, I am streamlining my approach as a creative specialist to help others find inspiration 'outside the box'. I have over 20 years of experience and networks in the music business and creative industries. I have toured in over 20 countries and helped to produce projects internationally including Canada, the United States and across SE Asia. Highlights of my career include working in L.A. with Che Vicious (Kanye, Dr Dre, Lauryn Hill) as the creative consultant for Interscope imprint label, Kops & Robbers. I worked well 1-on-1 with new artists on song writing, artist image and development of brand identity, with notable collaborations include Pharrell, The Game, RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chilli Peppers). I am not afraid to push the envelop, having been awarded the Chinese-Canadian Pioneer award for becoming the first Asian Female artist to chart in the top 10 across Canada. When we break outdated taboos or try something totally new, it often allows for creative approaches to come together with innovative solutions. Now based in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, I offer creative consultation work for various government agencies and private clients which has resulted in arts education programs, mini festivals and content creation for the Singapore National Arts Council, Singapore Night Festival, Singapore Bi-Centennial celebration and Media Corp. I continue running music publisher Nusantara Records, that finds sync & licensing placements for ASEAN talents and we have landed successful placements including Fast & The Furious 8, Netflix series Snowpiercer, Wu-Assasins and Tiny Pretty Things, as well as video games like FIFA 2016 and Asphalt 8. Through Nusantara Records, my team has managed and produced events for world music acts in the APAC region in partnership with clients like Potato Head, Tanjong Beach Club and Hardrock Cafe.
