About Mateo Salazar

As a Guidance Navigation and Control focused individual with a strong background in Aerospace Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, and Independent/Faculty Driven Research, I have gained valuable experience in diverse fields. As a Fire Protection Engineer, I obtained contracts from prestigious clients such as Microsoft, Bain & Company, and Rush Hospital, utilizing my expertise in accurately mapping existing sprinklers and piping for use in new construction plans, flow calculations, and developing innovative programs that optimized system performance and cost-effectiveness for my clients. My Independent/Faculty Driven Research involved studying spacecraft complexity and risk assessment processes, developing a 6 degree-of-freedom attitude model for Earth-orbit spacecraft, and modeling, analyzing, and programming angle of attack control of an F-16 using Modern Control (Optimal) Design Techniques. These projects allowed me to gain valuable experience in systems engineering, control theory, and programming, and develop skills in analysis, modeling, and simulation. At the Rocket Propulsion Laboratory within Saint Louis University, I led a team of undergraduate students in designing and building rockets, ensuring the successful completion of projects by utilizing project management tools such as Gantt charts. Overall, my diverse experiences have enabled me to develop a unique skill set that includes project management, engineering, and research. I am passionate about applying my skills and expertise to tackle challenging problems and thrive in innovative environments.
