Spent the first half of my working life in industry as a software designer and developer. Designed and built, for example, Europe's (and probably the world's) first completely online retail e-commerce system - Shell Oil's petrol station network in Sweden with 850 petrol stations connected in real-time to a server park in Stockholm. Account validation, liquidity checks, preliminary and permanent booking of funds, station reconciliation, etc. were all handled completely online from the early 1980s. As another example, I was the first in the Nordic countries (and probably in Europe) to automatically download new software to and reboot remotely installed computers - the 600 terminal computers at SMART (Scandinavian Multi-Access Reservations for Travel Agents), the Nordic-wide system for travel agent reservations, again in the early 1980s. Working in academia since 2002, full professor since 2007. To begin with, I worked with research and education but increasingly in the top management of Stockholm University - especially from 2012 onward as a Faculty Dean and then Vice President. From 2019 also teaching and course management in the area of social innovations within the innovation hub Openlab, which is a joint innovation lab between the City of Stockholm, the Region of Stockholm (26 municipalities) and the four largest universities in Stockholm.Appointed as a United Nations UNESCO Chair Professor in higher education (mainly PhD level) in developing countries starting February 2023.From October 2023, LinkedIn requires me to have a Premium account to be able to send messages to people who are not already in my network. The Premium subscription costs 399 SEK/month (around 40 EUR/USD), which is quite a lot for sending a few messages per month. Consequently, my activity level on this platform is likely to decrease substantially. This Premium requirement does not apply to all users. It's unclear why I am being targeted; many of my friends seem to be able to continue as usual.
