About Matt Witcombe

I am a 23 year old Sports Management graduate that is actively seeking full-time work in the sporting industry. My passions include sports, music, games and socialising with my friends. I was born in Geelong and lived there for 20 years. I found my passion in sport when I was three years old from watching AFL with my family. The pursuit of a sporting career was ingrained in me from primary school dreaming to be an AFL player, and followed me to where I am now. I chose my secondary school because of their Sports Academy program and played locally throughout all of my junior years. After year 11 I decided to move to SEDA College in Werribee which offered a new pathway for me to gain the fundamental knowledge and working experience to begin a career in sport. I enrolled in their graduate course which offered Dual Diplomas in Sports Development and Business, which gave me guaranteed access to a number of universities upon completion. I decided Victoria University was best for me to progress and grow as a person and I began a Sports Management course. Shortly after making that decision, I moved to a student accommodation in Footscray, where I stayed for 3 years. Moving to Melbourne was a key step in my journey to independence and allowed me to be more expressive and confident. I continued to study and gained plenty of opportunities through placements at Melbourne Stars and Western United, giving me a greater understanding of the inner workings of the sporting industry and the necessary exposure to expand on my own individual skillset. I made plenty of connections with fantastic people and and now have my Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management. I moved out of student accommodation and now reside in the inner south of Melbourne. Now I currently work casually and as a volunteer for Western United during matchdays. I am now actively seeking full time work in the sporting industry and remain as determined as ever to kickstart my career.
