About Matthew Abbott

I have spent the last 3 years as ICT Network Manager for Coleshill Heath School, where I have continued to develop my IT skills in education. I am responsible for managing the school IT network infrastructure including cabling, switching and servers, but also provide school with desktop and application support. My IT career has involved lots of supporting the education sector, supporting schools with their ICT requirements firstly as a technician, before progressing to desktop analyst and then on to my current role of ICT Network Manager. Prior to IT, I had worked within schools as a learning support assistant and unqualified teacher, giving me the unique perspective as an educator and as ICT support. I understand how important the successful implementation, management, and troubleshooting of computer technologies at schools ultimately helps improve the quality and effectiveness of teaching. I have recently emabarked on an Network Engineer Level 4 apprenticeship whilst working at Coleshill Heath School, which I passed with distinction, broadening my knowledge and expertise as well as practical skills in network management. I'm a father and husband, and am extremely family orientated outside of work. I feel I'm a well rounded individual, participating in a variety of hobbies and interests when time and energies permit. This includes a love of interesting films, theatre, games, and music; performing in musical ensembles on my flute or guitar; keeping active and healthy and traveling to new places.
