About Matthew Cox

Matthew Cox has a diverse 36 years of transportation experience - a background of executive leadership, ownership, budgeting, directorship, safety, quality, training & standards, emergency response, logistics, and international piloting. He has high-value portfolio, C-Suite experience, having performed the roles of President, Chief Executive Officer, and Vice President for aviation and motorcoach companies. He has extensive managerial experience, having held the following positions: Aviation Manager Canada, Chief Pilot of the Americas, Deputy Chief Pilot Rotterdam, Deputy Chief Pilot Houston, Senior Training & Standards Pilot, Quality Assurance Manager, Flight Data Manager, and Director of Safety & Emergency Response. Previously held positions have included charter airline owner, airline chief pilot, air ambulance chief pilot, and he has served on a number of boards representing transportation, and safety & emergency response. He has an extensive background in emergency response which he leveraged at Shell as the Air Operations Supervisor on the National Response Team (NRT) & Shell Americas Response Team (SART). During the Fort McMurray fires, he orchestrated the en masse evacuation airlift from Albian Sands. As a leader in logistics and transportation, Matthew has worked internationally for Royal Dutch Shell managing global flight operations and flying Shell's CEO, Board of Directors, and Executive Committee globally. Within North America he was accountable for the management, control, improvement and Q-HSSE delivery of their Heavy Oil air operations, inclusive of Shell air carriers and Shell aerodromes. As a pilot, he has crossed all major oceans, conducted numerous global circumnavigations, including two polar routings, and has flown into challenging regions such as Russia, Asia, Middle East (including Iraq), Africa (including Nigeria), and South America. As a promoter of transportation, he volunteered with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets as the 952 Squadron Chief Pilot. As a humanitarian, he was the conceptualizer and one of the original founders of the Southern Medic Air Society which has raised millions for improved patient care during fixed-wing, air ambulance operations and publicly fund-raised for a medevac helicopter. During the pandemic, he was instrumental in launching Mobile Vaccination Clinics in Alberta. As demonstrated at all levels of the transportation industry, he is a team leader who aligns and harmonizes group efforts and delivers top notch team performance.
