About Matthew Diabes

I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Human Capital Analytics and Technology at NYU. I teach courses in quantitative research methods and people analytics. My research is motivated by the central question,"What conditions enable positive collaborative relationships to emerge, and how are they maintained?" Broadly, my research examines communication and coordination processes, interpersonal trust and knowledge-sharing on teams, and the social and organizational value of well-being (e.g. psychological health, happiness, fulfillment). My current research examines the impact of psychological and social health factors (i.e, well-being) on collaboration. I have conducted research in the field in the financial, health care, and tech sectors as well as in laboratory environments. Visit matthewdiabes.com for additional details. Both personally and professionally, I am interested in ethical research conduct, which includes both methodological and interpersonal elements. I am currently collecting the stories of PhD students and postdocs (current and former) who have experienced unethical conduct in research academia both in terms of research practices and advisor conduct with PhD students. My goal is to assemble these stories in a book to expose these issues to a broader audience and provide clarity and solidarity to students who have had similar experiences.
