About Matthew Nash

I am an aspiring musician and music teacher, recently graduating from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Music in Performance majoring in classical trumpet. Here I developed my technical and ensemble skills, expanded my networks across south-east Queensland and broadened my range of pedagogical resources. I have been teaching trumpet privately to school-aged children since 2017, taking students through the early years of their careers and assisting with examinations and performances. My responsibilities include negotiating lesson times with parents, creating personalised lesson plans and goals for students, finding suitable resources and creating opportunities for students to thrive in their musical lives. I am an experienced multi-instrumentalist, with my main instruments being trumpet, piano and drum kit. My performance experience includes orchestras, wind bands, stage bands, cabaret shows and church services, covering a vast range of genres and settings. Through my tertiary studies and performance career, I have been active within Raymont Residential College, having been employed as a Residential Assistant in 2021 and becoming a Senior Residential Assistant in 2022. Here I have increased my ability to effectively communicate with staff and students, lead and work in teams through various activities and challenges, provide pastoral care and build connections within communities. My time management skills have been expanded since arriving at Raymont, allowing be to balance life between tertiary studies, performances, engagements within Raymont and rest.
