About Matthew Talbot

I work with the Department of Finance team at the Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU. This involves preparation work and reporting on meetings up to and including at Ministerial level. Additionally, I liaise with colleagues across departments and carry out policy research and analysis in advance of Ireland’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union. I hold a Masters of Science in European Economic Studies at the College of Europe. Furthermore, I hold a first class honours graduate of the BSc. in Financial Maths and Economics programme at the University of Galway. I have strong leadership and team working skills, my experience with the School Bank and Citysmarts shows this. I won a GRETB award for leadership in my role as School Bank Manager. Citysmarts won the Galway Student Enterprise awards in 2018 and we were chosen to represent our county in Croke Park. I am working with Studyclix, the market leader in providing Leaving and Junior Certificate notes, videos and other study aids to students. My role is in the mathematics department and I create content to help students with maths. I am the Vice-Chairperson of the University of Galway Economics Society. I have a keen interest in economics and the society organises regular events to promote economics amongst the staff and students in the university.
