About Matthew Turner

With a background in architectural practice in the UK, Europe, India and Australia, I've worked 'client side' as a client representative, funder, as well as a competition juror, lecturer and architectural journalist. I also have experience of working on a broad range of different projects beyond architecture, from being funded to research the effectiveness of government investment programmes in the built environment, right through to designing and building my own house. I enjoy variety, and work in multiple activities. I am currently managing funding to projects investing in London's high streets, delivered by community and business groups, and local authorities, totalling approximately £10m. I also have years of experience of regular monthly careers advice at Building Design magazine and the Architect's Journal, answering architects career issues. My working life so far is proof of my belief in (and enthusiasm for) the idea that there are many ways to work with an architectural training – through buildingonarchitecture.com I provide specialist careers consultancy, really enjoying the process of helping people find the way to use their architectural training that best works for them.
