About Matthijs Collard

After spending 24 years in digital design, I switched to aviation. To be more precise, electric aviation. Flying is a great invention; now is the time to make it sustainable. My dream is to land my electric aircraft on a deserted beach. Fold out the solar panels for my flight back, wax my board and go surfing. I started the E-Flight Group to make this a reality and help electric aviation accelerate. Using all the skills that I learned over the years. I am a passionate digital product designer. During the years, I also developed myself as an entrepreneur. I founded six companies and invested in several start-ups. I have over 18 years of experience in user interface design, usability, information architecture, user research, user experience consulting and prototyping. Strong communication skills in talking to stakeholders: Clients, users, marketers and developers. As an entrepreneur, I learned how to grow companies and build a strong and loyal team. I am a believer in self-management, the agile mindset and Getting Things Done®. I am a GTD® certified level 1 trainer and Holacracy practitioner. Living in the beach town of Scheveningen, The Netherlands. Married and father of 3. Nr 4 is a dog. Lover of the seaside. Windsurfing since age 15. Now frequent kite, wing, foil-surfer and surfer. Travelled the world with family and friends to find the best waves and adventures. Now I suffer from flying shame. I compensate with long CO2-free summer trips until I can fly electric. I have a private pilot license (PPL). I passed my exam in an electric aircraft at E-Flight Academy, as the 10th person in the world to do so. Interested in collaborating, mentoring or investing with/in cleantech. Think electric propulsion, solar, and charging.
