About Maureen Hanly

I have worked in the health industry for almost 40 years and have gained extensive experience as a senior executive, manager and leader. I have developed broad knowledge and understanding of national and state government bureaucratic processes as both a purchaser and provider of outsourced services and understand the importance of developing effective relationships with clients. I understand what influences and drives government reform and organisational change within the health sector and what motivates staff within organisations to be committed to making a difference to peoples' lifestyles, health and wellbeing. Following a more than 30 year career in the public and private health sectors, predominantly in justice health and mental health in New South Wales and Victoria, I made the move seven and a half years ago to health management consulting to allow me greater opportunities, diversity and flexibility in how I could work with organisations to influence change in health service delivery. I started my career as a nurse and believe my clinical experience has ensured I remain pragmatic, passionate and focused on wanting to make a difference to health service planning and delivery so as to improve the quality of life and health of people. I am also committed to working with organisations to develop effective, positive workplace cultures which are focused on providing high quality healthcare. I am particularly dedicated to improving the health status of people who are socially disadvantaged, Indigenous Australians and those who come in contact with the criminal justice system.
