About Maxime Brodeur

My career started as a night shift NOC operator in charge of system surveillance and escalations for corporate and live services at Ubisoft. This position gave me a privileged perspective, especially in regard to online operations and also on the monitoring aspects of IT operations. This experience has guided me through me career as I moved on to operational coordination positions. Once again, I’ve been in a unique position where I had to analyse, create and/or improve many support and communication processes for the live operations, many still in use today. All these experiences encouraged me to seek more management experience in order to play a bigger role in IT operations. I then became manager of the NOC team. Building and developing teams is something I enjoy tremendously. I have been focusing on building a more autonomous NOC team, empowering them as much as I could so they could do what they know best; Fixing issues at the root. I also had to expand the team internationally, which is a great challenge and an exquisite learning opportunity. The logical evolution has been to create a fully dedicated monitoring team that would federate any existing monitoring sources and drive the monitoring strategy for the most critical services. Since then, both the NOC and the monitoring teams have been working in tandem, complementing each other. These experiences provided me with an extensive baggage of knowledge should it be day-to-day operations, crisis management and escalations, multiple teams management in an international setup, driving a vision over many years and leading ambitious projects following rigorous methodologies (Agile, Kanban, etc).
