About Maya Robinson

I have completed my Master’s degree in social work at Chicago State University, with direct practice as my concentration. I have obtained my LSW. I am enclosing a copy of my resume for your review. The Social Work program helped me gain more knowledge in current/past policy, current issues, cultural and structural forces of certain populations and social work practices for advocating the well-being of individuals, groups and communities. I love working with children in particular because they are the future, they have a fighting chance. What is instilled in them will carry on for generations to come. I want to be that person to show that they deserve better than what is their norm (i.e: education is not important, getting quick money, living in poverty etc.) I strive to show them a different path and their unique path will lead them to success. My experience working with children and families served as an advocate providing resources to parents interested in employment. I provided employment resources such as Temp agencies, upcoming job fairs, FEDEx, and other organizations connected to assisting families. I also follow up periodically to check status/update in effort to provide additional resources a support. During my internship at Epic Academy, I provided counseling to students and community resources to teachers and parents such as New Era Chicago and UpWorld and other organizations that provide mentorship, education skills and unify other communities to invest and rebuild. My primary my goal is to become more knowledgeable in other areas of MDT in effort to advocate, educate and provide a better service to the people. I would love to interview for this position because it will also challenge me to maintain humility in what I do not know, learn what I can and enhance what I already know.
