About Melissa Long

In my current role as leader of a storytelling team, I oversee the development of web content that supports organizational goals and meets customer needs. My current team of writers focuses on narrative articles, blog content, marketing copy for websites and email. Recognizing the importance of creating a digital experience that connects people to the mission of the organization and helps them find what they need, I’m passionate about content improvement and stewardship. I have initiated projects to eliminate redundant, outdated content through auditing and analysis and introduced user stories and acceptance criteria into our planning process to ensure alignment with audience needs. In my first job out of college as a writer for a business process re-engineering team at a university, I was formally introduced to business process improvement and the importance of concise, precise verbal expression. Later, as a writer and editor, I produced journalistic human interest stories, blog posts, and marketing content through research, interviews, and compelling theme development. When promoted to team lead, I leveraged these skills to guide my team. I’m passionate about developing content strategies and unlocking the delivery of high-quality content and products, always with a critical eye toward balancing customer needs and company success.
