About Melissa McNulty

I am a First-class Criminology graduate with an excellent work ethic, friendly nature, and the abilityto adapt, work under pressure and face challenges with a calm and positive manner. Myprevious work and voluntary experience, alongside my degree, have provided me with skills which are transferable to multiple public sector roles; including the ability to use IT systems such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, alongside the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public both electronically and face to face. As part of my degree, I have taken modules regarding youth justice and social work withyoung people, therefore I am knowledgeable about current practices regarding youth justice,trauma-informed approaches and the importance of building therapeutic relationships. Engaging in these modules has also driven my passion to work within the public sector and I am eager to grow my knowledge and provide support to those who find themselves victimized by social, political and legal ideologies.Additionally, my previous positions have often required me to uphold practices of confidentiality inorder to ensure that standards of care are achieved, often utilising my initiative to do so when required. I have experience of working as part of a team and independently, demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills, which were developed during the course of my three-year degree. I have been proactive within my community, volunteering at Lancaster Medical School to give guest lecturers to students on mental health and answering questions inorder to help aid students’ learning.
