About Melissa Rubey

I create programs and experiences that bring people together, solve problems, and make a real impact. It is what drives me. At Austin Achieve Public Schools, a charter school focused on equitable education, I have led initiatives that truly matter. I organized Field Day events for over 1,100 students and staff. I mentored five first-year teachers, all of whom secured full-time roles. I also improved key operational systems to make everyday processes run smoother. Every project I take on is about helping others grow and succeed. Before this, I spent 14 years at Leander ISD. I balanced teaching with leadership roles, like developing science curricula aligned with district standards and driving campus-wide improvements. I represented educators across the district to ensure programs were effective and practical. I learned how to manage priorities, bring stakeholders together, and find solutions that worked for everyone. Whether I was in the classroom or leading professional development sessions, my goal was the same: to create better outcomes for students and staff alike. I believe great leadership is rooted in adaptability, empathy, and focusing on what really matters. Those values earned me the Core Values Award at Austin Achieve in 2023. They also guided me as the Specials Department Lead for six years, where I led my team with clarity and purpose. I take pride in my accomplishments, but more than that, I take pride in the relationships I have built and the trust others have placed in me. I thrive in roles where collaboration, problem-solving, and making a difference are front and center. Whether it is leading teams, managing programs, or creating meaningful initiatives, I show up ready to deliver.
