SUMMARY An innovative, analytic and strategic thinker with a passion for improving health and reducing health inequalities. My community development approach to public health has enthused individuals and communities about improving health. I provide engaging leadership for partnership projects that I get involved with. My style has enabled individuals and teams I have managed to excel and contribute to creating a legacy of viable and sustainable projects. HEALTH POLICY Excellent experience of interpreting and implementing policy to meet population health needs. The National Health Service (NHS) in the UK, has sharpened my ability to work on policy issues. I have developed and implemented initiatives on issues including HIV/AIDS, Mental Health services for minority communities, Tobacco Control and Public Mental Health. I have developed strategies for meeting the health needs of communities in areas of socio-economic deprivation. HEALTH PROMOTING PARTNERSHIPS. Experience of setting up, coordinating and providing leadership and direction to partnership initiatives to address key community health issues: the Luton African HIV and Sexual Health Advisory Group (LAHSHAG)- a learning and strategy development forum, the Liverpool Black and Other Racial Minorities (BRM) Mental Health Reference Group to improve mental health services for ethnic minorities, Tameside's Take 7 Steps Out Project (protecting children and young people from second hand smoke in the home).The Mental Wellbeing Network and Strategy Groups-influencing, negotiating and presenting to operational and strategic leadership for a Public Mental Health Strategy. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND CAPACITY BUILDING Experience of recruiting and training volunteers for HIV/AIDS, and mental wellbeing programmes. Using drama and community newsletters to promote health. PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT Experience of working in private and public sectors, developing and managing award-winning individuals and teams.
