About Mena Ramos

As a physician, entrepreneur, health & medtech consultant, I specialize in healthcare innovation that bridges entrenched silos through meaningful workflow re-engineering with high tech/high touch digital tools to save time, lives, and cost. With over 10 years of experience in family and emergency medicine, I am passionate about advancing point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training, adoption, and practice across the continuum of care through a health equity, patient centered framework. As the co-founder and co-CEO of Global Ultrasound Institute (GUSI), I lead a multi-disciplinary team of physician experts, technical experts, and connectors to provide a comprehensive POCUS solution to the healthcare industry through education and training, consulting, research, advocacy, public and private entity stakeholder engagement, and development of vendor-agnostic cloud based HIPAA compliant image sharing software and ML tools to enable healthcare practitioners and health systems to deliver on the promise of POCUS care transformation. In addition to my role at GUSI, I've served on the board of multiple nonprofits including Cuba Caribe, a performing arts, music and dance company, and Women in Medicine, an advocacy group for sexual minority identifying women and gender expansive physicians. I am currently the chair of the POCUS Certification Academy Engagement Committee and a council member of the Point-of-Care Ultrasound Certification Academy. In this capacity, I build strategic alliances across medical specialties and regions to promote POCUS integration into curricula and practice guidelines.
