About Merce Mach

I have developed my career in research and education, as well as consultancy and the management of organizational projects. I'm currently Tenure Lecturer at University of Barcelona (Faculty of Economics and Business). My academic scientific research interests revolve around organizational trust, effectiveness, and emergent issues of HR Management and organizational performance. I was recipient of several competitive research grants and I published articles in peer reviewed journals in such areas as Strategic HRM, Attendance at work (presenteeism) and Trust in work setting teams. I have been research visiting fellow at John Molson School of Business (Concordia University), and Iese Business School (University of Navarra). I was also research fellow in ESADE’s Institute for Labor Studies (IEL) I have been also a consultant in various sectors of business activity: finance (La Caixa savings bank); mass commodity (Chupa Chups, Sara Lee); industrial (Bher automotive group, Sony Spain, Cerestar, etc.) and also in the public sector (Mataro Hospital, UOC- Open University of Catalonia, Escuela Judicial -The Judiciary School, the Public Administration School of Catalonian Government, etc.). I collaborated on projects to introduce policies on HRM (performance development, job description, salary policies, change management, continuous improvement programs, etc.), on the development of management skills (social skills, negotiation and conflict, chairing meetings, decision-making, etc.) and multiculturalism management skills. In the sphere of development co-operation, I am a Visiting Professor at several Central American universities and I managed the SUD-(University Service of Development of ESADE), the objectives of which included the participation of ESADE students and lecturers in development co-operation projects in Latin America, and the promotion of social responsibility in professional practice.
