About Michael Beavitt

I'm a researcher using ‘omics’ technologies and data analysis to answer important biological questions. I have experience in programming, data analysis, and visualization using Python in particular, and I have worked on several projects involving genomics (analysis of single cell flow cytometry data in concert with bulk RNA-seq), protein function prediction, bioinformatics pipelines, plant gene editing, and systems biology applications. I have extensive experience in writing reproducible, portable and modular pipelines in Nextflow using nf-core concepts and design strategies, with applications ranging from polyploid genome assembly to data processing using web scraping and custom designed APIs. Additionally, I have relevant experience in R, and I taught myself the C programming language through the amazing textbook by K. N. King, to further my understanding of algorithm design and high performance programming concepts.
