About Michael Dyson

Michael Dyson, CTRS, currently serves as the Multi-Ability/Special Needs Ministry Pastor and Director at Northwood Church. He brings a dynamic blend of experience from the church, special needs, mental health, and outdoor recreation fields. With a passion for inclusive ministry, Michael has a demonstrated history of developing impactful programs that meet individuals where they are, while promoting dignity, growth, and community. He is highly skilled in recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers; providing specialized care for individuals with disabilities; advocating for the needs of the special needs community; and effectively managing challenging behaviors. His expertise also extends into mental health care and outdoor/leisure education, where he integrates therapeutic principles into recreational and spiritual contexts. In addition to his ministry role, Michael leads a range of community outreach initiatives and engagement events designed to foster connection and support for individuals with disabilities and their families. These programs aim to break down barriers, raise awareness, and build a more inclusive and compassionate church and local community. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from Texas State University and a Master’s in Family Ministry from Dallas Baptist University, further equipping him to serve families with depth, insight, and pastoral care.
