At SAIC, I serve in a dual capacity, leading a team of network engineers and interns as a Network Engineering Team Manager while also driving the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust and secure network infrastructure on multiple networks as a Principal Network Engineer.Team Leadership & Development:I am responsible for leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of network engineers and interns. This includes fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, setting clear performance objectives, and providing regular feedback and coaching. I actively participate in the recruitment and selection of top-tier talent, ensuring a strong pipeline of skilled engineers. I contribute to strategic planning initiatives, aligning the team's roadmap with SAIC's evolving technological needs and advocating for resources that enhance network capabilities and team development. I effectively delegate responsibilities, empowering team members to take ownership, develop their expertise, and provide technical mentorship in areas of routing protocols, network security, and cloud integration.Network Engineering & Architecture:I lead the design and development of complex network architectures that meet the specific needs of SAIC and its customers. This includes translating business requirements and security mandates into resilient and scalable network solutions. My responsibilities encompass the full lifecycle of network devices, including selection, configuration, deployment, and ongoing management of routers, switches, firewalls, and other critical network components. I possess expertise in a range of technologies, including Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade and AWS cloud networking solutions.Security & Compliance:Maintaining a secure network posture is a top priority. I ensure that our network infrastructure adheres to all relevant STIGs and industry best practices. I lead the implementation of security measures, conduct regular security audits, analyze vulnerabilities, and develop remediation strategies.Operations, Maintenance, & Troubleshooting:I am responsible for the day-to-day health and stability of our network. This involves proactive monitoring, performance optimization, and rapid troubleshooting to minimize disruptions to business operations. I also oversee regular maintenance activities to ensure continued compliance and optimal performance.
