About Michael He

With over 10 years of experience in academic research, I am passionate about using innovation to tackle critical problems in healthcare, collaborating with brilliant minds along the way. I specialize in technology development and project management, particularly in the realm of discovery projects, with strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills. Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. I completed my Ph.D. training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the University of Melbourne in Australia. With a background in pharmacy (BPharm, Monash University), I maintain a keen interest in drug discovery and development. My research interests focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying treatment resistance and signaling vulnerability in diseases such as cancer. Ultimately, I hope to uncover strategies for more effective therapies that can lead to improved patient outcomes. My current work centers around investigating immunomodulating mechanisms to enhance epigenetic therapy, characterizing interactions within the tumor microenvironment, and defining precision medicine and novel therapeutics for B-cell lymphoma. My expertise includes functional genomics (CRISPR and RNAi), drug response, high-throughput genetic screening, signaling transduction, cell biology, molecular biology, assay development, drug development, epigenetic therapy, anti-angiogenic therapy, and scientific illustration.
