In April 2025, Mike joined the world’s most dynamic and entrepreneurial professional services firm -Alvarez & Marsal - as Managing Director focusing on Telecommunications & Digital Infrastructure markets. Mike has substantial leadership experience both in the C-Suite and Boardroom as an operator of complex digital business model transformations and financial turnarounds; and as a leading provider of strategic and operational business advisory and consulting services that deliver high impact performance improvements. As Former Chairman and CEO of Barnes & Noble Education (NYSE-BNED), a leading solutions provider for the education industry, Mike led a business model turnaround that culminated in the successful recapitalization of the company in June 2024, allowing him to exit and leave BNED with a new business model and stable platform. Prior to joining BNED, Mike led a business model turnaround and financial recap at iconic retailer Barnes & Noble, Inc, serving as a member of the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, President and Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Mike contributed to several large successful digital business and strategic transformations in the TMT space serving as CFO of Cablevision Systems Corporation, CFO of Charter Communications and CFO of AT & T Broadband prior to its merger into Comcast Corporation. Mike also served as a Global Equity Partner at Andersen Worldwide and Arthur Andersen for over 20 years where he had leadership responsibilities in the Cable TV, Energy and Real Estate Industry groups of the firm. He also served as a Director on the public company Boards of Cablevision Systems Corporation, Charter Communications and CommerceHub. Cablevision and CommerceHub delivered significant shareholder exit value when sold to financial sponsors. In November 2024, Mike formed Bearnose Partners LLC, which offered advisory, Board and C-Suite level services to select clientele, including Private Equity and Public Company relationships.
