About Michael Kananoja

The pursuit of a healthy, happy and fulfilling lifestyle is one that takes balance, dedication and a sturdy foundation. Physical literacy is no different than learning to read or write, and should be a priority for all youth. Developing the proper skills at an early age can create opportunities and decline the chances of serious injury later in life. Growing up immersed in sport, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to develop these skills at a young age. I was also exposed to team building and leadership qualities and learnt the value of hard work. Sport has so much to give, and was such a central pillar of my development, I believe that everyone should have access to quality sport. My goal is to provide quality sport programming to everyone. I believe that quality sport programming should be accessible to all and my time as the Program Coordinator for the Winnipeg Newcomer Sport Academy (a non-for-profit organization that provides New-Canadian youth with quality multi-sport training) has reinforced this belief tenfold. I am a graduate of the University of Winnipeg (B.SC - Exercise Science), with extensive experience working within Non-for-Profit organizations. I am skilled in Microsoft Excel, Customer Service, Microsoft Word, Time Management, and Leadership.
