About Michael mc Loughlin

A leader in the fields of advocacy, youth, policy and governance increasingly focused on international and EU work. Legally qualified with an MA in International Relations (1st) I have delivered significant outcomes for NGOs in these fields in the areas of media, Government relations, compliance and governance. Dealing with decision makers for over 20 years, today I am working more in the EU and international environment in areas such as EU legislation, trade, development, human rights, Asia, and democracy building. After 15 years’ experience and relationships developed nationally I was appointed by the Irish Government to the European Economic and Social Committee. As a member and rapporteur on several topics I spearheaded consensus on many critical reports between civil society and the EU institutions. I worked with the EU Commission and Parliament on several files throughout the legislative process involving a variety of NGO’s, representative groups, EU platforms, associations, industry bodies, academics and experts. Building on my experience and understanding of media relations I developed a robust NGO strategy to enhance organisational recognition trebling media hits becoming the go to organisation in our field. I represented my organisation as a spokesperson on TV and other media to achieve greater influence among decision makers ensuring an enhanced voice in the policy making process. As a Board Chair I have used my leadership, communications, legal and governance skills to build greater confidence and improve organisational compliance to significantly enhance and expand the organisation. I built significant networks and relations for a major political party by ensuring a presence at major decision-making fora. Drawing on my knowledge and insights in to politics and international relations. I was appointed a member of the Irish Election Observation Roster and was deployed to Ukraine for the two rounds of the 2019 Presidential Election.
