Background

About Michael Nowicki

I’m a Senior Systems Engineer with deep experience building, supporting, and optimising Microsoft-based environments at scale. Over my career, I’ve worked across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud platforms, bringing a strong focus on reliability, security, and compliance. My technical expertise includes Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, PowerShell automation, Office 365, Azure AD, and VMware, with hands-on experience aligning systems with frameworks such as the Essential 8 and ITIL. I’ve delivered projects ranging from Exchange-to-O365 migrations through to enterprise-wide infrastructure rebuilds and uplift initiatives.I’ve supported environments from small councils with fewer than 100 staff through to enterprises with more than users, most of my career being in 10k+ seat environments. I enjoy tackling complex infrastructure challenges, mentoring colleagues, and creating SOPs and architecture documentation that strengthen both operations and resilience.I thrive in evolving tech landscapes and have experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS EC2, and hybrid models. As a technophile, I enjoy learning new tools and approaches — whether that’s scripting and automation, cloud migrations, or adopting emerging technologies to keep systems secure, modern, and reliable. While my background is primarily Microsoft, I’m adaptable and quick to learn beyond the MS stack. I’m currently seeking a long-term permanent role where I can contribute stability, technical expertise, and forward-thinking solutions, while also being open to select contract opportunities that align with my profile.
