About Michael Sloyer

Michael is dedicated to helping individuals and organizations: 1) discover who they are and what truly matters to them, and 2) align their outward actions with this deeper self-understanding. With a unique background that spans high-pressure finance and transformative personal development, he brings rich experience and insight to his coaching practice. Prior to Upbuild, Michael was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he worked as an equity derivatives trader for 11 years in NYC, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. This experience provided him with an intimate understanding of the pressures and challenges faced by professionals in demanding corporate environments. His transition from Goldman to Upbuild was driven by a desire to align his values with his work and life. Michael’s coaching approach emphasizes ego awareness, authenticity, and trust-building. He frequently integrates the Enneagram, along with other frameworks such as Nonviolent Communication and Internal Family Systems, tailored to each client’s needs. Michael holds an Economics degree from Duke and is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
