About Michaela Murphy

I am Michaela Murphy and I am an Interior Architect based in Cork City. I graduated with an Honours (BSc) Degree in Interior Architecture from Cork Institute of Technology in 2013 and since then have gained experience in practice at JEK Architects whilst also carrying out various freelance design projects. During my time at CIT I completed numerous projects from Bar Design, Hotel Suite Design,Medical Centre Design and Office Design. Through these projects, I became proficient in design programs such as AutoCAD, Google SketchUp, 3DS Max and Adobe Photoshop.In conjunction with design, I have also an experience of adapting sustainable strategies. After graduating with my degree I spent some time at JEK Architects where I got the opportunity to give my input into various projects including cafe design, beer garden design and office design. Tasks I carried out daily at JEK included creating fun and engaging mood boards and presenting them to clients,making concept models and also compiling Design Statement Reports and Planning Permission documents. I am constantly to keeping up to date with the latest design software, so at the moment I am currently studying Revit by night at St.Johns College Cork. In November 2014, I was given the award of "Highly Commended Designer" by the The Institute Designers Ireland (IDI) at the Graduate Designer Awards 2014. As an Interior Architect, I will take a client from concept to final design by presenting 3D Visuals and engaging models of their spaces as well a 2D AutoCAD plans.
